Tuscan Hillside Estate

The clients couldn’t resist this lot’s beauty, despite its obstacles, and worked long and hard with their architect and Allen Construction to create the estate of their dreams. This was accomplished by working outside the site’s 30-percent slopes, setting the house at the base of the steepest hillside (with substantial retaining walls) and creatively incorporating a grand cobblestone entry, driveway, and parking area. The building envelope is irregularly shaped but doesn’t compromise the final product: a beautiful Tuscan hillside home with 180-degree views of the Pacific.

In keeping with the clients’ Italian origins, the home’s interior incorporates authentic antique beams, flooring, tile, and fireplaces. The 5,400 sq. ft. home also features state-of-the-art lighting, automated controls, and mixed media. The lower level of the estate, built against the hillside to comply with a strict local building height ordinance, includes three bedrooms, two baths, a media room, a golf simulator room, and a spacious gymnasium. An 800-square-foot guesthouse sits to the west of the main house.
