Air Bud Production Studio
The PCH Project, located along Pacific Coast Highway in scenic Malibu and across the street from the Pacific Ocean, is a commercial remodel for Key Pix Productions, designed by architect Britton L. Jewett with Studio 7 Architecture and Allied Arts. This remodel converted three spaces – a rundown, nondescript, two story, office building, an adjacent garage structure, and a one story, souvenir shop next door – into an elegant office space, a production studio for Air Bud Entertainment, and the Malibu Cigar Lounge. In the course of the project, we completely changed the buildings’ facades to a very industrial look – giving the buildings the uniqueness desired by the Hollywood production set. The makeover was a complete departure from the eclectic redoes, reworks, additions and confused mixture that was the original building.
The new office building showcases hardwood floors, custom skylights, exposed steel trusses, dual glaze steel windows with low e-glazing, an upper level kitchen facility, and all new HVAC and plumbing.
The Malibu Cigar Lounge, adjacent to the production studio, has its own aesthetic. The Lounge was relocated from the original two story building and upgraded to include a cedar lined humidor and a rear patio sitting area with custom metal awnings and glass panels.
